LOW-NOISE BRAKE AT EUROPEAN LEVEL
Customers of GATX are being notified in a timely manner about the ban of noisy railcars from Swiss tracks (starting from 2020) and from the German rail network starting from the 2020/21 timetable change. Tailor-made solutions are offered to meet both, the commercial and the regulatory requirements. Simultaneously, GATX has been equipping existing freight cars with quiet brake blocks for years now and continues to invest in new, low-noise freight cars… the majority of our fleet already has “whisper brakes”.
DIGITAL AUTOMATIC COUPLING (DAC)
The DAC will likely replace the existing buffer and draw gear on railcars. This DAC enables automatized operational processes like automated coupling with air, electricity and data line. GATX participates in the TIS working group and is a member of the consortium in the BMVI project “DAC Demonstrator train”.
