GATX Rail Europe (GRE) announces that Johannes Friess takes over the company’s growing Freight Business Unit as of 1 March 2021.
Vienna, February 2021 – Most recently, Johannes Friess was Business Unit Manager New Markets and furthered GRE’s growth in France and BENELUX. Since joining GATX in 1997, he has held leadership roles in sales and technical operations. Johannes Friess played an integral part in GRE’s freight strategy since its launch in 2019. As president of the VPI Austria he is dedicated to increasing the modal split of railways by advancing industry initiatives of digitalization and automation.

He will lead a team of experienced key account managers strategically placed across Europe to best serve our customers.”
The Business Unit Oil and the Business Unit Chemistry are led by Elisabeth Jilli and Michel Trommeshauser, respectively. Angelique Zorn-Penno, previously Business Unit Manager Freight at GRE leaves the company on 26 February 2021.
