From March 2018 on, our new Jumbos will be on the track: The lighter and volume-optimized tank cars have a tank capacity of 98 m³ – this is 3 m³ more load capacity than former cars on the market! The resulting cost advantages will delight our future lessees.

As you certainly already know, we from GATX continue to invest into the rejuvenation of our fleet also this year. And so we are proud to be the first lessor to deliver the optimized cars in the new design to the market.

The Jumbo Tank Car with Cost Advantages
This new tank car has an undercarriage with a self-supporting tank in which light mineral oils and chemical products like octane, hexane, pentane, acetone can be optimally transported.

With this Jumbo, the freight costs per Tonne are lowered for two reasons:

1. The car is short – for the same overall train length, one car more can be hooked up.
2. The car is light – with the same number of cars in the block train, up to 3 m ³ more per car can be transported.

Therefore lessees from the mineral oil or chemical industry, and also rail freight forwarders, benefit from significant cost advantages with this new tank car.

Individual Design Possible
In addition, this tank car can be individually configured: Thanks to its nozzle range on the top, the car can be optimally adapted for special loading and unloading requirements. Likewise, on demand we supply various innercoatings,telematics and also additional safety features. Just exactly as you would like your new Jumbo to be.
