The cooperation between GATX and the international steel producer, ArcelorMittal, is developing: The company, which also owns many large production plants in different European countries, has ordered 60 Shimmns-ttu cars from GATX for its European transport operations.

Already by the third quarter of 2018, the flat pivoted bogie cars equipped with a tarpaulin roof in familiar GATX lime green will start their journey to France. The 60 Shimmns-ttus, produced by the Croatian rolling stock manufacturer, Ðuro Ðakovic, are an integral part of the expansion and renewal strategy of ArcelorMittal. With GATX, the company has chosen the right partner for the preparation of its fleet for the future!

Flat Pivoted Bogie carsfor up to5 Coils
The 60 Shimmns-ttus are suitable for the wet-protected transport of up to 5 steel coils. In both, equipment and design, the freight cars have been customized exactly to the wishes and specifications of ArcelorMittal:

• Length over buffers 12.04 m
• Load limit D4, approx. 67.5 t
• Load capacity up to 5 coils
• Loading and unloading possible from the top and from the sides
• Tarpaulin roof in bright lime green

International Cooperation
We at GATX are currently in intense discussions with ArcelorMittal to jointly push further innovative car projects and thereby to modernize the ArcelorMittal fleet. For GATX, this is an important further step for the implementation of our diversification strategy: We are broadening our freight car fleet consequently and are gaining a foothold in new markets!
