At GATX Rail Europe, our annual “You Care—We Care” initiative reflects our commitment to giving back to the communities and environment that surround us. This year, our teams across Poland, Germany, and Austria once again stepped up to make a positive impact, from supporting local causes to protecting the environment. In each country, teams signed up for an array of activities they care about and, as always, the hours spent volunteering are matched by GATX Rail Europe in funds to donate to a good cause.

GATX Rail Poland: Gardening and Urban Cleaning for a Greener Future
In Warsaw, our volunteers partnered with Centrum Aktywności Międzypokoleniowej Nowolipie to revitalize garden spaces and create flower decorations with seniors, fostering a sense of connection across generations. Meanwhile, in Ostróda, the team cleaned the city, working to restore the natural beauty of the local ecosystem.

GATX Rail Germany: Cleaning Cities in Hamburg and Düsseldorf
In Germany, our teams in Hamburg and Düsseldorf split up to support various charitable organizations. Two teams supported a children’s hospice and an organization for people with disabilities by gardening and completing other tasks to maintain a healthy and enjoyable environment for residents and visitors alike. Another team contributed to the conservation and promotion of a local nature area with cutting, raking, and scything meadows, while some others took the opportunity to donate blood.

GATX Rail Austria: Supporting Local Organizations
In Austria, our efforts focused on helping VinziRast, a shelter for the homeless, where volunteers cleaned common rooms. Our Austrian team also contributed to cleaning urban areas.

And the good work doesn’t stop here. For every hour each of our colleagues spent giving back, GATX Rail Europe is generously donating 50€. So far, we’ve donated 20,000 € to those affected by the recent floods as well as various local charity organizations and are #proud to be part of a company that cares as much as we do.

For us, the 2024 “You Care—We Care” initiative highlighted the power of teamwork and compassion. Whether through environmental clean-ups, community support, or aiding flood victims, GATX Rail Europe remains dedicated to making a positive impact, building a kinder, greener future.
